When June Dale arrived on the North Metro scene in 1971, they were a small chorus with just 17 members - now, this vibrant and energetic group has grown to 182 women, ranging in age from 23 to 91! With a long series of Regional Championships and International Top 10 rankings they have grown to become the World's Premiere Sweet Adelines Chorus - and now they have THREE Gold Medals to prove it!


North Metro's first International medal was won in 1996 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida - placing first in all four categories! The second International win was in Atlanta, Georgia making North Metro the Millenium Champions! North Metro's Regional Championship in 2001 boasts the first time any chorus has broken through the 700 point mark....with an impressive 728! North Metro’s third International gold medal was awarded in Nashville, Tennessee in 2002 making them the 2003 Champions!
North Metro recently won Region 16’s 2005 competition in Syracuse, N.Y., with a score of 712, which entitles them to compete in Las Vegas, in October of 2006.


North Metro is widely known for their unique performance packages which include Newsies, Oliver!, Paint Your Wagon, The Space Set, Mary Poppins, The Sailor Set, and their 8-part harmony packages with the Mega City .P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.
North Metro puts hard work into their competition and show packages, rehearsing every Wednesday night in North York, ON. They also welcome any visitors and/or those interested in being a part of the excitement to join them at their current rehearsal space at St. Clements Banquet Hall, 76 Overlea Blvd., in Toronto Ontario at 7:30pm every Wednesday night.

The North Metro Chorus Competition Statistics:

  • In their first Regional Competition in 1971, they placed 7th
  • In their second Regional Competition, in 1972, they placed 2nd missing first by 11 points
  • In their third Regional Competition, in 1973, they placed 1st with a controversial Army package
  • At the International Competition level, North Metro has placed in the top ten each of the last seven times the chorus has competed
  • 1996 Fort Lauderdale Florida, North Metro became the first Canadian chorus ever to win the International Gold Medal with a new record of 2822 points to become the 1997 International Champions
  • 1999 Atlanta, Georgia, achieved the highest score ever recorded in a Sweet Adeline Chorus competition, 2904 points to become the 2000 International Champions

North Metro proudly sponsors the following Region #16 awards:

  • "North Metro Small Chorus Award", presented by Sweet Adelines International to the first place chorus each year with a membership of 15 - 40 on stage
  • "Larry Dale Coaching Achievement Award", presented annually by the 'Director of Musical Activities' faculty, to a nominated coach from Region 16.
